Based in Jacksonville, Fla., writer Kerry Speckman (aka The Specktator) is obsessed with pop culture, which explains Stargazing in Jacksonville, a daily-ish round-up of what celebs are in town, coming to town and saying about our town, as well as D-list stalkings for your enjoyment; and POPulocity, a travel site for people who care more about where Paris Hilton danced on a table than where Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
During her career, Kerry has written for AOL, Fodors, Southwest Spirit Magazine, AAA Going Places, Zagat, FoxNews.com and is a contributing writer for Jacksonville Magazine. In 2000, she wrote a book called The Hooky Book, which has been featured in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Cleveland Plain Dealer, The Florida Times-Union and Men’s Health, as well as on To Tell the Truth and the Clark Howard Show. One of these days, she’ll get around to updating it and creating a new website, but considering the book is about playing hooky from work, that’s not likely to happen anytime soon.
Kerry also appears on “Around Town,” an entertainment segment on First Coast Connect on WJCT 89.9 FM, Thursdays around 9:45 a.m.—when she doesn’t oversleep.
